Traded the M6 today for the below ride. The i8 lease is up soon. The Z3M is on a truck out to SF and will likely be listed on BAT this spring (after I’ve had a last chance to drive it and also make sure it’s in tip-top shape). The LX450 needs a head gasket and its value won’t support that so it is going to - um, a farm upstate. I might even sell the R90S on BAT next year and replace it with an S1000RR.

I like that a G-wagen is part of my plan to simplify my life.

G-Wagen and an i8; swoon.

I was actually googling prices for i8s today after my daughter and I were playing with her toy i8; they are not losing value as much as I was hoping. Of course I drive a free mutant of a 911; so odds are, no matter what prices were, they wouldn’t have been what I was hoping.

Is the g-wagen going to be your only car, or are you going to get something to fill void left by the Z3M and i8?

By mid 2018 I will probably have the G550, and E9, and an E34 M5. Then I will either stand pat and do something more sensible with my money or (much more likely) start looking for an i8 replacement. I’m sorta liking the DB11.

The i8s were $140k to $160k new and I see used 2014 or 2015 models with less than 20k miles for like $90k to $100k. That’s more depreciation than a similarly MSRP’d 911 for the milage and frankly more than I was expecting.

Enjoy the garage shakeup, an incredible time to be a car enthusiast! Seeing as you have the modern classic, restomod and SUV covered it’s clearly time for something outlandish and temperamental?

Might I recommend a Mercedes AMG GTS Black Edition? If only I had the cheddar... The wife and I will be adding an SUV this coming spring and returning to the 3 car life - unfortunately a functional g-wagon is not in the cards...
